Promotion Information

Please keep in mind, even if you meet the requirements you still may not be selected for a promotion at the current moment. This doesn't disqualify you from promotions in the future. Important:

  • Requirements may change as we tweak the ranking system.
  • If we haven't seen you for a while, your rank may go back to Citizen/Medic Recruit. No worries, just visit the #-help-center and create a ticket if you plan on continuing to be a part of RS1 and we may restore your rank.
  • Demotions can happen at any rank. Please view our #-org-rules to understand why a demotion may occur.
  • Rankings are meant to be fun and will serve some higher purpose as we evolve, so let's keep it fun and not have power trips or get angry about rankings.

Promotion Process

  1. A Commander can become a Captain with the endorsement of an Admiral.
  2. Captain promotions are made by the Admirals. Admirals may seek input from the Captains, but Admirals have the final say.
  3. Promotions are held by having an interview with the admirals, followed by an announcement to the organization.

Key Criteria for Promotion:

  • Proven Leadership: Effective leadership.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to plan and strategize.
  • Management: Squad involvement and organization.
  • Impartiality: Maintain fairness and composure.

This streamlined guide outlines the key attributes for Lieutenant to Captain promotions in Rescue Squad One.

Admiral

Admirals are promoted Captains who demonstrate unwavering dedication to the growth and health of Rescue Squad One.

High Admiral

High Admiral is the highest rank within RS1.

Alt Accounts

Alternate (second) accounts are strongly discouraged within the RS1 Discord. However, if you have "reason" to need a second account, only ONE of the accounts can promote through the ranks. The alt account must stay citizen.

You must let command know of the alt account immediately as it joins, or before it joins. If we find out you have an alt account and you didn't let command know about it, disciplinary action may be taken and can lead up to a possible ban of all accounts. To let command know, please open a private ticket (using your "main" account in RS1) about the alt account. In the ticket, make sure you include:

  • Your main account discord name and Star Citizen handle
  • Your alt account discord name and Star Citizen handle
  • Reason you need more than one account in the RS1 discord
  • Verify which account will be "promoting" within RS1Request for an alt account to be in the RS1 discord can be denied or revoked.

Rank Structure & Responsibilities

Ranks have a specific area to cover, but doesn't mean we can't help out in other areas.

Exploring the organization

Divisions Team

Platoon Leader

Platoon Leaders help facilitate the operation of any and all squads placed under them. This includes assisting with Squad events, tests, or training, as well as managing personnel issues ranging from personnel shifts between squads, minor disciplinary issues, and personality clashes. Platoon leaders should also aim to help improve the operation and skill of their squads by working to execute multi-squad events. Platoon Leaders should also encourage Squad activities with other Platoons and help coordinate those events. Finally, Platoon Leaders should act as liaison between the Squads and higher command, providing assistance in larger Org events.

Requirements: Senior Medic NCO, execute at least one Platoon event (multi-Squad) every other month.

Squad Leader

Squad Leaders organize and lead a squad of like minded individuals as they focus on a single gameplay loop. The Squad Leader should run events and training which help build the skills, knowledge base, and cohesion of their squad.

Requirements: Senior Medic, execute at least one Squad event every month.

Membership Pauses & Reinstatement

For members at or above the rank of Pathfinder, inactivity in the discord server may result in a reduction of rank to a minimum rank of Enlisted. Each instance of 3 months of inactivity will result in the reduction of rank by one level, from Master Pathfinder to Pathfinder, and from Pathfinder to Lead Specialist. Rank reduction will be confirmed by a majority vote of all members of command and then logged in Promotion Tracker. In order for a rank to be restored, the individual must submit a ticket requesting the restoration. Rank restoration will only return the rank previously held, and the NCO role must be reapplied for.

The exception to this policy is an Approved Absence, which can be requested through a general ticket and requires approval from at least two members of command, Fleet Officer or above. This approved absence will not reserve the NCO role, but will prevent the reduction of rank.

Should an individual leave the server or Organization, any reinstatement of rank will be done under requirements at the point of reapplication. No rank shall be grandfathered in.

The maximum rank of reinstatement shall be Pathfinder as NCO positions and above are limited in number and must be applied for in the usual way.

Once restored, any "time in role" calculations begin from the date of the reinstatement ignoring time served before leaving the server.

In rare occurrences, reinstatement may be denied by a command vote if the individual has behaved in a manner that would bring RS1 into disrepute during their absence - i.e by being part of a pirate or known griefer org, or by the method of their leaving/reinstatement, this may be appealed as per rules governing a discipline appeal.

Spectrum Requirements for RS1

To be ranked at all in RS1 (anything above citizen), you need to be in RS1 on the Organization Spectrum and it needs to be visible at all times (never redacted).

To be ranked Pathfinder or above, you must have RS1 listed as your main Org on the Spectrum. You must also not be ranked above "base" level in any other Org. It's difficult to give a name for the "base" rank, since most Orgs will have different names and amount of ranks, so to make it a general statement, we are saying that you cannot be higher than the entry level (usually the first "ranked" level) in another Org. If you are using our Org ranks as an example, you cannot be higher than "Enlisted" in another Org.

Rank restrictions in other Orgs may not apply for Orgs with under 20 members.

Allied Orgs may also come with an exception.

Restrictions on Affiliated Orgs

As a ranked RS1 member (anything above citizen), you cannot be a member of any Pirate or griefer Org.

If you have an Org redacted, we may request to view it at any time. Most likely multiple times. This is usually done during routine security checks, however it can be done at random times. We check the spectrum often, to make sure there are no pirate orgs in our ranks.

Keep in mind that if you are ranked in RS1, whatever you do in the verse, you are always representing RS1, even while you are playing with another Org or even solo.
